Working with, not against, the requirements and aims of the school district, this proposal for a prototype middle school challenges educational paradigms by optimizing the learning environment. A conglomeration of a highly-calibrated classroom module, studied traffic patterns, and programmatic adjacencies this finely-tuned machine provides spaces for students, teachers, and staff. Taking into account sustainability goals and then rising land costs, the proposal involves the extrusion of the flat school into three stories. Employing tilt-up construction, advanced mechanical systems, and expandable information technology, building information modelling is necessary to coordinate the systems. This modeling was also used to fine-tune the interior spaces for light, acoustics, and dimensional relation.
